Missionary Family Album {Free Printable}

My little brother is about to leave for the Dominican Republic to serve an LDS Mission for our church, but before that, we had to celebrate his 19th birthday! I had heard from a few people that family photos are great for missionaries to take with them, as convorsation starters, or just to have a reminder of the support they are recieving back home. So I put this togehter for Scott as a birthday/mission gift, and he loved it! I'm sure he (as any 19 year old) would of been happy with a few pictures shoved in en envelope, but there was NO way that was going to happen with me around ;)
I just went to Walmart and got a $1 photo album, designed a cover (I added a less 'personalized' version below), and got photos of our family printed. This album held 24 photos, and then I printed the cover also. So 25 in all. The cover annd back were a tad larger than 4x6, so I just mounted it on some carstock to make the border. Finally, on the inside of the back cover, I typed a short note and taped it to the cardstock before I slid it into place.

This was a really simple and affordable project! I think it cost like $6.00 between all the photos/paper and the album. The best part is, is that its going to get used, and loved!
If you are wanting more Missionary posts, just wait, I have a few up my sleeve over the next few weeks!!

A peek at my {Fall Decor} and a few tips...

One of my favorite things about looking at other people's blogs is seeing their decor! So I thought I'd share mine for fall!
I ADORE holiday decorations! Well, I adore all decorations, but that's not the point!
I don't go ALL out with changing my decor, I mostly just add and swap things so they look more holiday appropriate.
Like changing out word blocks....
changing small peices, like the pumpkin, and swapping out my candles for a fall color.

One of my favorite ideas for getting the 'fall' look for CHEAP is to get a fall garland ( I got this one at Michael's for like $4 if I remember right), chop it up into chunks and add it to the base of your shelves and tables. It gives a big impact with little cost or effort!

Ok, last tip. But this is more of a general decorating idea that I follow. Keep your main pieces (large frames, clocks, etc.) to a few neutral colors. that way it's easy to add pink candles and a red 'I love you' block for valentines, and then easily switch to yellow candles and a pink bunny for Easter. Most of my frames are a cream color, or natural wood, so it makes it really easy to change the look quickly.
Happy Fall Decorating!!

Freezer Breakfast Burritos

These burritos are almost exactly like these burritos... just breakfast style!

1 lb. breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
8-10 eggs, scrambled
cheese
anywhere from 10-15 tortillas*
After cooking all of the ingredients, allow them to cool and then proceed to fill the tortillas with fillings. Roll tightly and then wrap in plastic wrap and freeze.
There are a few ways to thaw these,  my husband just throws his in the microwave for about 1 1/2-2 minutes with the plastic wrap on. This makes the tortilla a little softer than I like, so I remove the plastic. Or if you plan ahead, throw a few in the fridge the night before and then they don't take as long to heat.

*This recipe varies in how many burritos it makes, depending on how big your eggs are, and how full you fill the tortillas, I got about 10 I think, but you might be able to get more!

Toddler Food Ideas {Free Printable}

As you know, my baby boy turned 1 a few weeks ago! Which meals no more formula! It also means, I have one more person to think about at meal time! I have to admit, I already miss the convenience (and easy cleanup) of formula!
He had been eating finger foods for a few months now, but more as snacks than on a regular basis. So when my doctor stressed the importance of feeding him a balanced diet along with whole milk, I was a little intimidated! So I came home and what else.... googled! I found tons of meal ideas for 1 year olds, but I decided to compile a list of all the options in one place and use it to make meal decicions! It's also a nice thing to have when my hubby is home alone with the little mr. and need ideas for what to feed him.
I usually choose 1 thing from 2-3 of the groups for each meal. Now keep in mind that these are all things that MY little boy can eat, he has no allergies (that we know of) and he has about 6-7 teeth now. I know some doctors don't agree with eggs or peanut butter before age 2, so if that's the case for you, just cross them off. If you have any other ideas of what to feed little ones, I would LOVE to hear them!

All I did was Slip this list into a sheet protector (totally optional) and tapes it up into the 'baby' cupboard, where we keep all the sippy cups/bibs and stuff like that.

*Remember to ALWAY cut up food small enough and cook it well enough for your little one to eat!*

Ham and Cheese Bundles

Um, can you say Hot Pockets... but BETTER!?
Rachael Ray would call this a BLD. You can have it for Breakfast Lunch or Dinner. We made them for dinner, and had extra, so I froze the rest for a quick breakfast later on in the week. I'll let you know if it worked!
Ham and Cheese Bundles
1 can Jumbo Biscuits (I used butter flavor)
thinly sliced lunch meat ham
shredded cheese
Press out the biscuits until they are about double the size. Fill the inside with ham and cheese, just make sure you can still fold the biscuit over! Pull one side of the biscuit over and press the sides together. Pinch the seam shut with a fork. Bake according to biscuit directions until golder brown.

Deviled Egg Spread

I made this spread the other day for the big BYU vs. Utah game (that did NOT go over well at our house:( ) However, this spread did! It's basically like the deviled egg center with the white mixed in. YUM-MY!
6 Hard Boiled Eggs
3 TBS Miracle Whip
1tsp yellow mustard
3 TBS sweet relish
1/4 cup olives (chopped)
dash of onion powder
dash of garlic powder
salt and pepper

Seperate the egg whites from the yolks and mix the yolks with the remaining ingretients. Finely chop the egg whites and fold into yolk mixture. Serve with crackers.

EASY Pineapple Chicken Stirfry

I love easy recipes, and this one is just that! It wasn't on our list for dinners this week, it was originally supposed to be 'stuffed green pepper casserole', but I wasn't in the heavy-casserole-dinner-mood, so I turned to the freezer/pantry to find a quick and simple alternative, and this did not disappoint!
Easy Pineapple Chicken Stir-fry
2 chicken breasts, diced into bite sized pieces
1 can of pineapple chunks
3 green bell peppers, cut into bite sized chunks (about 1/2 inch)
1/2 to 3/4 bottle Kikkoman Stir Fry sauce*
1/2tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp powdered ginger
1/4 tsp coarse black pepper

In a skillet, brown chicken with the garlic powder and ginger in a little cooking spray until no longer pink. Add green peppers and saute until peppers have softened. Add pineapple, black pepper and stir fry sauce (add however much sauce you like, we like ours saucy so I added about 3/4 of the bottle, and then drizzled more over the rice!) Heat on med-low until warmed through (about 10 min) and serve over rice.
*I had previously declared my love for kikkoman's teriyaki sauce, and I am now going to do the same for the stir-fry sauce! This stuff is awesome! It makes for a really quick and yummy meal!

Pirate Birthday Party {Free Printables}

I was SO excited for my baby's 1st birthday! I spent about 11 1/2 months planning it, and I was SO happy with how it turned out! We did a pirate theme, but instead of the normal black and red, I went with an orange and turquoise color scheme! (Yes, the party had a color scheme) I'll give you a little peek into what I did...
Lets start with the invitation! It's really a pretty simple invite! I just designed it with Photoshop, I attached a download of a blank one so you can add your own text!

Now onto the cupcakes/cake. I just bought white cake mixes and white frosting and colored them with food coloring. The orange cupcakes got turquoise icing and the turquoise cupcakes got orange icing. The cupcake toppers we super easy, I just designed them on photoshop and then printed them at costco as 4x6 prints. Then they got cup out and taped to a toothpick, and there ya' go!
The '1' on top of the cake was just a wooden number from Roberts Crafts that I painted orange and glued to a large Popsicle stick. Then I applied white vinyl dots to make it fun!

Ready for another download? How about some Subway art? This was just an old frame I had that I spray painted with Rustoleum Aqua Spray Paint and made some word art for! Simple enough! But this was the most complimented decoration at the party!

And just a few pictures of the other decor... some blocks I made, along with a few of my little mister's 1 year old photos...
Some anchors I cut with my cricut, hung by white thread...
And, again thanks to my cricut, a happy birthday sign!
And I have to throw in one of the birthday boy! :)
Happy Birthday Mr. B!!
