{NEW} Foto Friday!

For awhile now, I've wanted to make this blog a little more personal. I love hearing from all of you, and that happens most when I post about my family... and really, what's more important than my family!?

  So I decided to start...

Haha, clever, I know! ;)

So hopefully this will give you a little more insight into my daily life!

 

 Our sweet baby girl was given a blessing in our ward on Sunday! And I have to brag a little about her dress! It is totally handmade by my sweet Mother in Law! With the lace from my Mom's wedding dress! Can you get anymore sentimental? She also wore my baby shoes, and I made her bracelet and headband!

Tot School Ideas

I have been attempting to do Tot School with Katelyn each day. I have always wanted to do something with my children to help teach them. I got the idea from following several blogs, but mostly from three amazing ladies who have so many ideas. All three of them have been either kindergarten or first grade teachers so I know that their 'curriculum' is age appropriate and educational. First off is 1+1+1=1. She has such brilliant ideas and tons of free printables and suggestions. I am so excited to start using her ABC weekly lesson ideas for Katelyn.


I also follow Alison from Oopsey Daisy. She has great ideas and also does her version of mommy school with her 2 year old little boy. This last week she offered a new themed packet that I am so excited to use with Katelyn.



And finally for more great {free} printables and ideas you can visit Michelle of Musings of Me. She has so many adorable themed Tot School printables - they are wonderful! I have used several of hers and we have enjoyed them.

FHE in a Jar

Seeing how it's Monday, it's time for some Family Home Evening ideas. For Christmas this year we made 'FHE in a Jar' for the families we gave gifts to. I wish I would of taken a picture of the final product because it was an awesome gift! :)
I got the idea, and PDF file, from The Idea Door a website that has lots of fun LDS church related activities and crafts from Primary to Relief Society. It's a great site for any of you that teach a lesson, or just want to teach in the home. I love it!
Back to FHE in a Jar, like I previously said, I just printed out the pdf file of all the different family home evening ideas on some cute paper. Cut them out and put them in a jar. (I actually just used an empty formula container. It was perfect to use, with the snap on lid and all that) that I had decorated with some pictures and the following quote:

"I hope, my brothers and sisters, that you are having your family home evenings in your home with your children. You Can Not afford to postpone this. The days, the months, and the years pass so quickly, and before long it will be too late." -President Gordon B. Hinkley (Jan. 28, 1996)

All in all, FHE is important and we don't always have time to prepare some elaborate lesson. So it's nice to have a bunch ideas already prepared in ONE place. It was a huge hit with every family that got one! I need to make our family one, that's one of my next projects! :)
